Sow Care & Room Set Up Specialist

About the position

Scheduled Work Time:

11 Days in a 14-day work schedule. This will include every other weekend working and other weekend will be a 3-day weekend. Consisting of Saturday/Sunday/Monday.

Work Hours: 2 Shifts available for this position

12:00am to 8:00am & 12:00pm to 8:00pm

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Go through all farrowing rooms that have not farrowed up until sows 7 days farrowed and get every sow up and check her over for any lameness issues, fever,  swollen or hard underline, appearing lethargic, not drinking (dust on water nipple) Identify these sows and treat based on protocol for their individual issue.
  • Check in with Sow Assistant-Piglet Care Specialist regularly as if there are more sows farrowing than they can handle keeping up with drying piglets your assistance will be needed to dry piglets.
  • Check all Empty washed farrowing rooms and recently loaded rooms for correct set up.  Heat Lamps up working and getting the mats at temperature of 95 to 100 degrees. Mats pushed up a foot from back of crate, lights working, temperature set correctly, no drafts on piglet area from inlets/louvers set wrong.
  • Other duties as assigned.
