Location: Bedford and Mount Ayr, Iowa area

Job Description:

The Grow/Finish Maintenance Herdsperson is responsible for both routine and preventative maintenance on our facilities and equipment. Travel between facilities in the Bedford/Mount Ayr, Iowa region will be common.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs routine/preventative maintenance/repairs on facilities/equipment, including: Building; Structures; Heaters; Curtains; Fans; Cool Cells; Plumbing Systems; Augers; Electrical Systems; Small machinery, etc.
• Welds and operates cutting torch for maintenance or improvements.
• Ensure that all tools and other company resources are in good working order.
• Arranges outside services for things that need to be contracted and approved for the site.
• Ensures quality and timeliness of all work done.
• Keeps supervisor continuously informed/updated on the progress of maintenance projects.
• Oversees and coordinates the upkeep of the grounds including, mowing, trimming, weed prevention, pest/rodent prevention, and keeping entrances clean and clear during inclement weather.
• Routine/Daily Animal Care as requested at the site which may include feeding and watering the pigs; Vaccination/treatment of animals; Handling/moving animals. Sorting/receiving animals; and the removal of dead animals.
• Abide’s by all Cactus Family Farms Vehicle Use and Safety Policies while operating company vehicles or equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

• Maintenance experience at a minimum of 1 year is preferred, but not required.
• High School Degree or GED, preferred, but not required.
• Welding Experience is also preferred.
